Yesterday I was tasked with working on and fixing a 1987 Porsche 928. The car had a lot of its parts removed and just stacked inside. It had not ran in months or even years.
I was informed that there was no electrical power to half of the fuse panel and that the in tank fuel pump was replaced already. I have never really gotten into a 928 for repairs, but it is just a car. An assembly of nuts, bolts and wires. I can diagnose this.
I started by removing the “in tank fuel pump”, which I found was not a fuel pump after removal. It was just a level sensor. I found that the fuel pump, located on the outside of the tank was seized up.
I ordered a new one, now I will install it. Next step, see if I am a hero.
